Using the zip or rar file
1.Download ArcRes.dll 1.40.0.5142
2.Extract ArcRes.dll 1.40.0.5142 from .zip. We recommend that you extract ArcRes.dll 1.40.0.5142 to the installation directory of the program that is requesting ArcRes.dll 1.40.0.5142.
3.If that doesn't work, you will have to extract ArcRes.dll 1.40.0.5142 to your system directory. By default, this is:
C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8)
C:\WINNT\System32 (Windows NT/2000)
C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me)
4.If you use a 64-bit version of Windows, you should also place ArcRes.dll 1.40.0.5142 in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\
5.Make sure overwrite any existing files (but make a backup copy of the original file).
6.Reboot your computer.
7.If the problem still occurs, try the following:
8.Open Windows Start menu and select "Run...".
9.Type CMD and press Enter (or if you use Windows ME, type COMMAND)).
10.Type regsvr32 ArcRes.dll 1.40.0.5142 and press Enter.
