Using the zip or rar file
1.Download d3dref.dll 4.8.0.400
2.Extract d3dref.dll 4.8.0.400 from .zip. We recommend that you extract d3dref.dll 4.8.0.400 to the installation directory of the program that is requesting d3dref.dll 4.8.0.400.
3.If that doesn't work, you will have to extract d3dref.dll 4.8.0.400 to your system directory. By default, this is:
C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8)
C:\WINNT\System32 (Windows NT/2000)
C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me)
4.If you use a 64-bit version of Windows, you should also place d3dref.dll 4.8.0.400 in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\
5.Make sure overwrite any existing files (but make a backup copy of the original file).
6.Reboot your computer.
7.If the problem still occurs, try the following:
8.Open Windows Start menu and select "Run...".
9.Type CMD and press Enter (or if you use Windows ME, type COMMAND)).
10.Type regsvr32 d3dref.dll 4.8.0.400 and press Enter.
